چکیده

1 Introduction Filtered Back-Projection (FBP) is a well-known algorithm for reconstruction of tomographic images from projections [1-3]. Some of FBP's highlights are: (i) allows agile software implementations , and; (ii) production of images of good quality, i. e., relatively free of artifacts. Our goal is to reconstruct images from fan beam projections collected by detectors set in a linear array. Figure 1 presents a simplified geometry of the data acquisition system. A projection can be seen as a set of line integrals from a x-ray source up to the detectors. Other projections are collected after successive rotations of the source-detector system over the subject by an step angle ∆θ = 2π/(Ν − 1), where N is the number of projections .

Usability assessment of cone beam computed tomography with a full-fan mode bowtie filter compared to that with a half-fan mode bowtie filter

Background: In intensity modulated radiation therapy, cone beam computed tomography (CT) has been used to evaluate patients prior to treatment. This study conducted a comparative evaluation of the image reconstruction ability of the clinically used half-fan bowtie filter and the full-fan bowtie filter. Materals and Methods: A CT simulation marker was inserted inside a human phantom, and the pel...

Fast System Matrix Calculation in CT Iterative Reconstruction

Introduction: Iterative reconstruction techniques provide better image quality and have the potential for reconstructions with lower imaging dose than classical methods in computed tomography (CT). However, the computational speed is major concern for these iterative techniques. The system matrix calculation during the forward- and back projection is one of the most time- cons...

Performance of myocardial perfusion imaging using multi-focus fan beam collimator with resolution recovery reconstruction in a comparison with conventional SPECT

Objective: IQSPECT is an advanced high-speed SPECT modality for performing myocardial perfusion imaging (MPI), which uses a multi-focus fan beam collimator with resolution recovery reconstruction. The aim of this study was to compare IQSPECT compared with conventional SPECT interms of performance based on standard clinical protocols. In addition, we examined the concordance between convention...

Evaluation of the Reconstruction Parameters of Brain Dopamine Transporter SPECT Images Obtained by a Fan Beam Collimator: A Comparison with Parallel-hole Collimators

Objective(s): The purpose of this study was to examine the optimal reconstruction parameters for brain dopamine transporter SPECT images obtained with a fan beam collimator and compare the results with those obtained by using parallel-hole collimators. Methods: Data acquisition was performed using two SPECT/CT devices, namely a Symbia T6 and an Infinia Hawkeye 4 (device A and B) equipped with fa...

Image reconstruction in peripheral and central regions-of-interest and data redundancy.

Algorithms have been developed for image reconstruction within a region-of-interest (ROI) from fan-beam data less than that required for reconstructing the entire image. However, these algorithms do not admit truncated data. In this work, we investigate exact ROI-image reconstruction from fan-beam data containing truncations by use of the so-called fan-beam backprojection-filtration (BPF) algor...
